After writing the somewhat dark Purebred and the Hunt series and the exciting fourth volume of the series about Raili & Ylva, I needed to lighten the mood a bit. Since Purebred is about a future World War II and The Hunt is about a future hunt for war criminals, the theme was pretty obvious. A new cold war in a future Europe! As a big fan of Modesty Blaise, I took inspiration from Peter O’Donnell’s books and comics about her and from spy novels from the sixties.
Defcon Europe #1 – The Ghost, The Agent & A Femme Fatale is a fast-paced, action-packed spy novel set in an old-timey, future Europe.

A PULP SCI-FI FULL OF BADASS HEROINES
BRAVE MEN, BEAUTIFUL WOMEN
& RUTHLESS VILLAINS
First it was about waiting. In Murgendorf’s alleys a ghost was hiding with a thick stack of bills in his pocket, in the Carpathians an agent was trying to rescue a scientist from the clutches of the Coalition, and far away a beautiful woman was longing for her darling.
Then it was about information and what’s true and false. About a man obsessed with power and two cold children and their hatred. It was about a total ban on technology and a gala. About a way through the Barrier’s fence.
In the end, it was about doing the right thing.
And about surviving or dying.
